Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus…

Way back in 1897, a certain little girl by the name of Virginia ‘O Hanlon wrote a letter to the New York Sun to ask the editor the question of whether or not there truly was a Santa Claus:

”Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, ‘If you see it in the Sun, it’s so.’ Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?”

An editor of the paper by the name of Francis P. Church wrote the response and had appeared in an edition of the New York Sun on September 21st, 1897; What he had replied to her was this:
