Early ‘Rogue One’ Reactions Action

While Lucasfilm may not have released Rogue One in its entirety for critics just yet, they did screen 28 minutes of the upcoming film for an exclusive audience. Luckily, their reactions were allowed to make their way onto social media, so we’ve gathered them together here so that you might get an idea of just how this film is being received.

So far, things are looking quite positive, especially concerning Rogue One‘s action, the scope, the emotional beats, and a special crowd-pleasing performance from Alan Tudyk‘s newly introduced droid, K-2SO. There will be early reviews next week when they become available, but for now, these encouraging reactions have me feeling optimistic.

Gareth Edwards‘ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stars Felicity JonesRiz Ahmed, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie YenMads MikkelsenJiang Wen, Forest Whitaker and arrives in theaters on December 16th.

  1. I feel tentatively excited by this new film. The 3 prequels were, in my opinion, dreadful and damaged the Star Wars franchise massively (poor acting, far too much CGI, too little fun and very predictable)…however…The Force Awakens showed that you could reinject the true look and feel of Star Wars, take it back to its roots and make it something to love once again (even if the plot line was anything but original). I am worried that Rogue One might suffer from the issue of the prequels in that we know how it will end but hopefully this time the journey from A to B will be great fun.

  2. I despised the prequels. I don’t have a good feeling about another prequel. Stories should move forward, not backward. I’ll probably pass on watching the theater release of this film.

  3. How terrific that you’re anticipating Rogue One already. However clumsy I am, I tweeted Star Wars on Twitter the day of the live-stream event, with the idea that I was celebrating Rogue One as it neared its release date. The excitement surrounding Rogue One (and the sequels to the original trilogy, too) is as much to be appreciated as the film itself. It is great that you took to WordPress with the idea that you could exclaim your passion for the Star Wars universe here. I had the same idea I might accomplish the same thing with a tweet, although for the most part I only wanted to give a hello (a cheer). Good luck to you as you experience Rogue One, and let’s hope the sci-fi of Star Wars stays true to its wonderful origins.
