Tyler Hoechlin Will Be Playing Superman In Supergirl

Since Supergirl first aired on CBS, fans have been wondering when the Man of Steel would finally be making his small screen appearance on the dramedy.

Actor Tyler Hoechlin was recently announced to be cast as Superman, and soon after he sat down with The Daily Mail regarding his approach to playing the famous Kryptonian. With so many other actors taking on the role of Clark in recent years, he was asked if he’ll be comparing himself to Henry Cavill’s big screen version of the character.

I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.

Supergirl is a fairly light show, despite having some fight scenes and heavy drama along the way. This is a stark change from the big screen version of Superman, which is decidedly morose and dark. Zack Snyder’s additions to the DC Extended Unierse have included heroes that spend half the movie brooding, and the other half kicking the crap out of each other.

  1. While I only kind of like Supergirl (I have some serious issues with it!), I do think that it’s a good idea that they bring Superman into it and that they actually cast someone to play him. I thought the episode where they mentioned that Superman was ‘unconscious’ was stupid for many reasons and I hated how they mentioned him but didn’t show him! Things like that can get pretty annoying after a while!
